When a restaurant on Parkway Road goes dark, who takes over the space? At 131 Parkway Road this year, the answer came from a few doors up the street. The Tav'ery served its last night on August 2, 2026. The next tenant is BXV Steak, from Gieto Nicaj. He already owns Patsy's of Bronxville on the same block with his son, Alec.
That changes the block more than a typical "new restaurant coming soon" item would suggest. Once BXV opens, one family will be running two dining rooms a short walk apart on one stretch of Parkway Road, near the Bronxville Metro-North station.
What 131 Parkway Road Has Been
The space has changed hands more than once in a short time. The Tav'ery opened in 2023 where Coals Pizza used to be. In its June 2023 profile, Westchester Magazine described a bistro-and-tavern menu and a fully reworked room. The founding owners were Fiona Campbell and Marco Lojano, with partner Francesca Cuzzipoli. At the time, Campbell said the team wanted a comfortable place for guests to gather over food or a cocktail.
The Journal News later described The Tav'ery as a modern take on an Irish-style pub. The paper's August 2026 coverage listed its closing among a run of Westchester restaurant shutdowns and said it had "changed ownership last November." The coverage we could read did not say why it closed or who took it over, so this post won't guess.
So within about three years, the address went from pizza to tavern to steakhouse. The difference this time is that the incoming operator is already a known name on the block.
The Family a Few Doors Down
Patsy's of Bronxville is at 143 Parkway Road. Its name comes from the original Patsy's, founded in Italian Harlem in 1933 and known for thin-crust pizza from a coal oven. The Bronxville menu also covers pasta, fish and prime steak. That last item matters, because steak is already on the menu up the street.
The restaurant identifies Gieto Nicaj as owner and Alec Nicaj as general manager. The family's flagship is One if by Land, Two if by Sea in Greenwich Village. The Courier's fall openings roundup, published September 17, 2026, calls BXV Steak the vision of "local resident Gieto Nicaj." The same piece notes that he also owns Patsy's Pizza on Water Street in the Financial District. BXV's own site describes Gieto and Alec as longtime residents of the Bronxville area. Their portfolio also includes Dumbo Oyster Bar in Brooklyn.
That background explains the move. A family that already serves prime steak at 143 Parkway Road, and runs a well-known Manhattan dining room, is now opening a full steakhouse a few doors away.
What BXV Steak Has Put on Paper
The team has published more than most pre-opening restaurants do. These are the details on BXV Steak's site:
- The concept. The site calls BXV "a neighborhood steakhouse" with premium cuts, fresh seafood, and "a bar built for lingering."
- The signature dish. The menu includes the Beef Wellington from One if by Land, Two if by Sea, so the Greenwich Village flagship's dish is coming to Bronxville.
- The room. Exposed brick, reclaimed barn wood and classic steakhouse details. The site describes it as "polished enough for a celebration, comfortable enough for a weeknight steak at the bar."
- The drinks. The site says wine and cocktails "stay close to the classics."
- The concept menu. Lobster bisque, a prime-beef burger, the Beef Wellington and a range of steak cuts. The menu notes that items and prices may change before opening.
- The dress code. Business casual. Guests are asked to skip tank tops, beachwear and overly revealing clothing.
- The team. Gieto Nicaj as owner, Alec Nicaj as general manager, and Kevin Mattner as president.
The posted hours list Tuesday as a closed day and are marked "Subject to Change."
What Is Still Unconfirmed as of October 4
The Journal News and the Courier both expect the restaurant to open "sometime in October." As of today, the restaurant's reservation listing still says "Opening October 2026" and shows it as not yet bookable. BXV's reservations page says pre-reservations opened in September for October dates. It now tells visitors to check back for a booking link.
If you're planning around it, here's how things stand:
- The month is set in two local news reports. The exact opening day has not been announced.
- The menu and hours are both labeled as subject to change.
- No chef has been named in anything we could find.
Pondfield Road Is Adding, Too
BXV isn't the only new food business in the village this year, and the other arrivals also landed in storefronts on the main streets. Gelateria Sorella opened at 5 Pondfield Road. Westchester Magazine previewed it on April 9, 2026, naming owners Priscilla and Misha Mariani and an early-summer target. A Journal News photo gallery shows the shop serving customers on June 25. Its site still lists seasonal gelato, delivery and in-store pickup heading into fall.
A few doors along, Slave to the Grind at 58 Pondfield Road now carries Baked After Midnight cookies from baker and founder Gianna Khader, according to the Bronxville Beacon's September 8 story. It's a new product in a coffee shop that was already there, not a new storefront. That fits the year's overall pattern of additions rather than turnover.
The Fall Calendar Around It
The likely BXV opening also falls during one of the busier stretches on the downtown calendar. The Bronxville Chamber of Commerce lists the following dates, and the market dates come from the market's operator:
| Date | What | Where and details |
|---|---|---|
| Saturdays through Nov. 21 | Bronxville Farmers Market | Paxton Avenue at Stone Place, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. |
| Sunday, Oct. 11 | Oktoberfest | Park Place, with The Polka Brothers, food from Pete's and Scarborough Fair, and drinks from Simple Motive Brewing |
| Saturday, Nov. 28 | Small Business Saturday | Downtown, with specials and activities at local businesses |
One note on the market. The operator's site gives November 21 as the last Saturday. The Village's May newsletter said the season ran through November 24. The operator's current listing is the safer guide, and it already shows an October 10 vendor lineup.
There's smaller news around the village as well. The Village's September 2026 newsletter reports that Veolia has finished the Garden Avenue water-main replacement and repaving. The same issue reports a $59,800 contract to repair, resurface and restripe the Garden Avenue tennis courts so they work for both tennis and pickleball. It doesn't say when that work will be finished. Anyone dining outdoors downtown should know that every sidewalk and on-street dining permit bans smoking and vaping in those seating areas.
Once BXV Steak opens, 131 and 143 Parkway Road will both be run by the Nicaj family, a few doors apart.
